Wishing everyone a happy Labor Day weekend

Tales of the Traveling Tote and giveaway

Welcome to another adventure of The Tales of the Traveling Tote. This is where my fellow Tales of the Traveling Tote friends and I share our latest travels, projects and our most current events. You will have an opportunity to visit other members at the end of this post and learn about our giveaway.

What I did on my summer vacation!

Travel was not planned this summer since I had a project going that seems never ending. A project I thought would take a few weeks turned into all summer and is still ongoing. We have so much building in our town you have to get in line for the people you want to hire. In the case of my small project, the builder is so busy he's working my project in when he can. We are almost finished with a final date to finish up in two weeks.

This is where we started

The pantry

Shelving removed

You ask, what can I do with such a small space, check back in a few weeks when I share my before and after.

I have enjoyed going to our local farmer's markets for fresh fruits and produce.
Of course Miss Courtney is always giving me a helpful hand.

I've spent a lot of time in all the local garden centers. We replaced all the shrubs in the beds

Before with builder shrubs

After (all plants and shrubs were given away (not destroyed)

We enjoyed the July Fourth holiday with family

Before you know it! It's Fall Y'all!

Are you feeling it yet, the transitioning into fall? Here in the south we won't see any major change from summer for a while, usually well into October. We have to imagine the cool crisp mornings that come in late October, if we're lucky!

Thank you for your visit. Check back soon to see what the pantry turns into!

Happy September...

And, another reason I know it's fall...

  1. Emily, I love the glimpses into your home and garden! The hom is beautiful, and the landscape choices wonderful. I can't wait to see the pantry. I quit trusting those metal shelves years ago when a small house I bought had one with board games that came crashing down. I am 100% embracing fall this year and, sadly, we're seeing early signs of leaves falling, simply because of a summer drought. What will football be without Nick Saban?! The whole college landscape has changed so much with its monetization, I think he got out at a good time. Happy September!

  4. Hi Emily, it is wonderful to see photos of your new house! It's beautiful and the landscaping you've done is amazing, I know you've been working hard on that. I'm sure it's been frustrating trying to get your pantry finished, I can't wait to see it when it's all done. Your Farmer's Market looks like a treasure trove of goodies, how wonderful to have a place close by with local fresh produce. Love love your Bama bears, the Tide looked good last night! Happy September

  5. Emily, love seeing the home that you and Jim are now enjoying. The new plants are so inviting and I'm sure your neighbors are admiring it. I can't wait to see what the pantry turns into. I don't think I can wait until December 1st though :-)

We love our farmer's market and yours looks great too. We enjoy football too, and Xavier's first game is today. Happy September!

  10. Roll Tide! I live in southern Alabama, where Alabama and Auburn are ways of life during football season.

Your garden selections are beautiful. But I'm envious of your future pantry. Many of the older homes down here have something that I have always wanted -- a Butler's Pantry. Goodness knows that I need one.

  12. I look forward to seeing your pantry reveal. Love your new landscaping. You have been very busy.
your Roll Tide centerpiece is special. It was strange for Nick Saban not to be on the field. I know it was strange for him.
The temps yesterday and today were great. I have been in the yard all day but had to quit.It would be nice to have a long fall season.
