Let's go antiquing
Hello dear friends and welcome to another Tales of The Traveling Tote. Another episode here with no great travel adventures to share so I'm taking you antiquing with another stop for a little Christmas shopping. Have you seen the November/December copy of Victoria magazine? When I took a close look at the cover of my copy I was happy to see one of my favorite shops had made the cover.
Adams Antiques & The Potager
Pages from the article
About a ten minute drive from my home in Tuscaloosa, just across the river in Northport is where you'll find Adams Antiques & The Potager. Miss Courtney insisted we jump in the car and do a little antiquing! Since I haven't been there recently I though why not and off we went!
Once there we met Brandon who is the manager of the business. He knowns the ins and outs of antique furniture restoration and he was busy styling and working on a set of beautiful chairs. He is aways happy to chat and answer any questions you may have. After asking permission to take photos, which he smiled and said of course, Miss Courtney and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the rooms of beautiful French relics and antiques.
We loved the many vignettes wrapped in pine garland getting ready for the annual Dickens's Downtown. An annual celebration by the town which transforms itself into a nineteenth century winter wonderland with participants dressed in Victorian era dress. Jim and I are looking forward to the event, it's like stepping back in time!
This beautiful antique is the perfect piece to hold the collection of Strasbourg porcelain
A lovely writing desk
Here you will find a wonderful collection of illustrations, prints and magazine covers.

My tree is up!
Hi! Your tree looks lovely. These types of shops are my favorite way to browse - reminiscing, getting inspired and finding that special treasure! When is the big move? Hope you have a wonderful birthday and a very happy Christmas!!

When I saw the feature on The Potager in Victoria Magazine, I thought of you. I would love to visit before Christmas. Thanks for sharing all the beautiful things that caught your eye. I think the little puzzle is adorable. Did you bring anything home? Merry Christmas, Sweet Friend!
ReplyDeleteEmily, your trip to Adams Antiques & The Potager is travel enough for me. Thanks for taking us along. What a beautiful shop full of interesting and enticing antiques. I hope the darling puzzle followed you home. Charming!!!! I got my tree up yesterday. I'm eager to see your holiday decorations this year. Happy December!
ReplyDeleteOh Emily! I haven't seen the Victoria magazine with those shops yet, and even if I had, this was waaay better. Who needs to travel far when all this goodness is so close by? Sometimes I wish my sisters and I had our own shop entirely, although we don't want to work that hard, but I love the spaciousness of Adams Antiques. (Is the Potager a separate store or part of the name of Adams?) Those prints and magazines covers are displayed so nicely. I love how he packaged them. I have actually sold some of my own homegrown lavender in bunches like he has. Love the beautiful French furniture (I winced a little over several similar pieces we no longer have since our downsizing). The ribbon between the two cherubs is gorgeous, and the book inscription beautiful too. Thank you for taking us along antiquing, I loved it! And your tree is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I'm sure you will enjoy Christmas in your new home. I hope you and Jim will take some photos and share with us. Your tree is beautiful! I'll look for the Victoria magazine in Barnes and Noble, and wish I lived closer so I could visit Adams Antiques. It was great fun antiquing with you and Miss Courtney today! Merry Christmas to you and Jim. xo
ReplyDeleteCoucou Emily,

Oh Emily, I think I need to go antiquing with you! You know all the best places -- or at least a couple of real winners. I love those prints and that puzzle is a gem. The store is so beautifully laid out. And that giant Santa is a sweetheart. Will you be moved before Christmas? What a time! I have never seen a Santon before. It's probably a good thing I've stopped collecting larger things like that or I would gladly start a new collection! I don't know if I've told you that I finally started a (very) small Quimper collection (thanks in part to dear Sarah). Since then I've picked up a few piece at estate sales. It will never be a large one, but it is a special one!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I may need to take a drive to Northport. Adam’s Antiques looks amazing and I am sure I could stay all day just taking my time to look at everything. I have enjoyed the Victoria spread, but you made me feel as if I was there. Merry December!
ReplyDeleteAntique shops are one of my favorites...that puzzle probably would have come home with me!
ReplyDeleteAdams is one of the most spectacular antique shops I have ever seen. Ours out west aren't that great - it was too difficult to get things across the plain I was told. I would love several of those pieces in my new house. What a fun adventure and so mouthwatering. Have a wonderful December!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you love this store - isn't it fun when they decorate for the holidays? I always get so many good ideas that way - and spend too much $$!!! Happy Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip to your favorite store, Emily! I loved taking a peek at all the pretty things. Happy December!
ReplyDeleteSuch happy photos! Wishing you and yours all the best for this new year, dear Emily, hope it's a good one!
