Hello dear friends and welcome to another Tales of The Traveling Tote. I hope you are looking forward to the long Labor Day weekend. We have been enjoying the summer hosting family and friends.
Jim and I enjoyed a wonderful getaway in June.
One of our favorite places to be beachside is somewhere, anywhere along scenic Highway 30A in the panhandle of Florida's emerald coast. We look forward to a spring and fall getaway. This year our getaway had to wait until June.Trips here in the past find us in a beach house, townhouse or condo. This trip we were beachfront in a condo with million dollar views. My sister and brother in law usually meet us there but work schedules got in the way this year. Hoping they'll come in the fall for the next getaway. Come along while I share some of my favorite places along this Florida coastal hideaway.
With so many options for dining it isn't always easy to choose a restaurant. Of course we always return to our favorite, The Red Bar in Grayton Beach. We always enjoy the food and the atmosphere here. Unfortunately, it burned, a total loss several years ago but was rebuilt keeping all the old charm.
And, to finish up a great trip a speciality of the gulf coast, Key Lime Pie. It's enough for two!

Looks like a delightful getaway! The view from the condo was gorgeous and the color of the water was brilliant! Love your towels and totes! Hope you get to return this fall!
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when the Red Bar burned to the ground. I haven't been back since they rebuilt it, so I enjoyed seeing your photos. It really does look very much the same! Your towels are so cute! You were definitely the most stylish one on the beach, My Friend! 30 A is one of my favorite places on earth, and I hope we can make a quick trip down there this fall. What's the name of the nursery you visited? It looks like a lot of fun! Happy fall, Emily!
ReplyDeleteJust look at those cute beach towels! Your trip is envious, Emily. It's been a long time since I actually spent time on the beach reading and relaxing. Our Hamptons' beach time was just short walks and our wonderful evening on the beach dinner. I grew up spending days on Padre Island, getting way too much sun! Ha! Ha! Love the flag plate table setting. I hope you took some of those cute plates home. Who makes them?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your summer adventures.
I'm so glad you were able to getaway to 30A for some rest and relaxation, you have been working so hard! Your condo was lovely and the views are fantastic. The water was gorgeous and I love your MC beach towels, very stylish! You enjoyed some really delicious food, but I don't think I could have shared that Key Lime Pie, my mouth started watering the minute I saw it! Happy September Emily and hopefully cooler temps are on the way!

Emily, your getaway looks perfect…beautiful views of the Gulf, delicious food, nice condo, and last but not least great shopping. We love 30a and our son’s family loves Red Bar. The MKC beach towels are so cute. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI could tell you relaxed just by seeing your tote and pretty towels. The water is such a pretty color, and your view was perfect for sitting and reading. Happy September Emily, and may your travels continue into Fall!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I am so happy you and Jim got away. The beach looks amazing and the condo is lovely. Beach time is so relaxing, especially with those MKC cute towels. The food looks delicious. Yummy seafood is the best. Looks like a great Bloody Mary. The flag plate setting is wonderful. The nursery is always full of lovely plants and decor. Happy Labor Day weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope this area wasn't too badly damaged with the hurricane and glad you two had a holiday before that happened. I hope you'll be able to return with your sister. So many fun touches, good shopping and a gorgeous spot to stay. Isn't it fun to have a fave restaurant in a spot you like to go? This looks like a good one! I love the mellow feeling of being at the beach. This just makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing your pictures of the condo and favorite restaurants along 30A, Emily. The nursery looked like a fun spot and I would enjoy that place. I once tried making one of those people out of pots, but mine sure didn’t look like that. Thanks for sharing the fun vacation adventure with us.
ReplyDeleteEmily, we've been to 30A just once (Seaside), but really enjoyed it. I miss the beach, and hope we can get back sometime soon. Although it's exciting and adventurous to go different places, it's always comforting to go to our happy place and know the surroundings and just, well....be happy. Naples is that place for us. I know you must be looking forward to getting your home further along. I'm still doing that too. It's such a good feeling to tick off those projects, whether big or small, that ended up on the list with the move. Happy for you settling in!
ReplyDeleteTake me along!! The beaches in Florida are the most beautiful! Your condo looked wonderful too. I am so happy to hear that they were able to restore and rebuild that fun restaurant. It looks amazing. Sounds like you have created some wonderful traditions, and how fun to have so many great places to eat. You know me, it is all about the food!
ReplyDeleteWe live on the east (Treasure Coast) side of Florida and the next time we visit that area I know where I will be eating.
