Giving thanks to all the millitary personnel who died while serving out great nation!

Hello dear friends and welcome to another Tales of The Traveling Tote. I hope you enjoyed your long holiday weekend and are looking forward to welcoming summer. It has been a beautiful spring here and we've been taking advantage of the cool breezy days to begin the task of planting new shrubbery and adding flowers to the beds.

I ask Jim to add my Mrs. Powers dinner and door bell next to the door

We took a break from our work to enjoy the long holiday weekend. Grilling and sitting on the porch is a real treat from all the work last year of listing and selling our home and then moving. I enjoyed setting a table for two for dining al fresco. I did remember to take a photo of our patriotic dessert.

In April we traveled to Atlanta to spend Easter with my sister and brother-in-law. Spring is incredibly beautiful in Atlanta with blooming flowers with such vibrant colors. We enjoyed walks around the neighborhood with trees bursting forth with new lush green growth.

The azaleas were blooming

I always enjoy visiting a few of our favorite shops with my sister while we are there

Boxwoods nursery and gifts

I loved seeing this beautiful and inspirational symbol of spring and Easter, a Living Cross

Church members bring greenery, flowers and branches to help decorate the Easter Cross of Flowers

We didn't do a lot of traveling this spring but I am packing now for our first vacation of summer. Here's a hint of a very happy place I love to spend time!

  1. Your garden is coming along, and I love how Mrs. Powers welcomes visitors to your home. Your sister's neighborhood is so pretty. I love visiting Atlanta in spring. I will have to remember Boxwoods Nursery: I would love to shop there! The floral cross is stunning! What a beautiful tribute to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I would love to do something similar at St. Stephen's next Easter. I hope you can come to Birmingham and have lunch with Jenna and me soon!

  5. So glad you got to get away to Atlanta, I have never been. We had friends that lived there and missed an opportunity to visit. They have since moved to North Carolina. Mrs. Powers looks fabulous near your door. I love seeing azaleas 🌺. The Boxwood nursery looks like a place I would love ❤️. The Easter floral cross is gorgeous, such a perfect symbol. Happy upcoming travels Emily and enjoy the summer.🌞

  6. Emily, getting a peek of your home and landscape is exciting for me, and I know good and well how exciting it must feel for you to once again begin feeling in more control and settled. The break to Atlanta and visiting with your sister had to be good medicine too. That photo with the church steeple and living cross is outstanding! Enjoy that trip in the sun at the beach, and be sure to tell us all about your summer in your Sept post. Happy June, and see you in September!

  7. Emily, your landscape is looking beautiful. I know that is very hard work. You had a lovely getaway to Atlanta to visit with your sister. The azaleas are breathtaking as is the Easter floral cross. I love Boxwoods and it has been too long since I have been there. Enjoy your trip to the beach, I assume and Happy Summer!

  8. Emily, you have been working hard and it shows. You've accomplished a lot, and now it's time for a beach vacation. The Living Cross took my breath away. Looking forward to hearing more about your vacation! Happy Summer to you and Jim. We leave for Switzerland on Monday for two weeks.

  9. Coucou Emily,

  10. Just love Mrs Powers. I have the door knocker and trying to find somewhere for her. I have too many wreaths for the door and wouldn’t want to cover her up!

  11. Your landscaping is looking so pretty, Emily. You did deserve a break. Atlanta looked beautiful with all the pretty greenery and azaleas. That living cross was simply amazing!! I know where you’ll be headed for some rest and relaxation. Happy June!

  12. What a fabulous assortment of lovely flowers! Talk about absorbing beauty. And that landscaping job is terrific. I know how hard it is to do that (which is why my yard is such a mess!) and I applaud you and your skill. It's all fabulous. I'm glad you got to spend time with your sister -- and now, a vacation soon! Well deserved and I know you can't wait!

  13. Oh, Emily, I so relate to what you have been doing. Your new landscape plans look wonderful but it is back breaking to plant. I am glad the weather was so nice recently for you to get this job done. I apologize for being late. I have been MIA during the whole month of May from blogging. We were gone 9 days out of state and had a huge painting project at our house. I have missed reading and commenting on blogs.
I so miss going to Atlanta. I adore Box Woods! It is always a thrill to visit there. I love the living cross. What a treat. Our church does one also. Each person brings a flower and places it on the cross. There is a family photo op available in front of the cross.
I recognize your "happy place" and would love to be there also.
