CHRISTMAS AT THE FRENCH HUTCH

Hello sweet friends. I hope you had the merest of Christmases.  It's hard for me to believe Christmas has come and gone. My family all left to go home and I am reminiscing and looking at Christmas photos. I hope you will join me for a little Christmas afterglow!
(It's a little long)

The Foyer

Silver and gold, mostly silver this year. A little silver tinsel tree welcomes everyone home

The Living Room

The living room always has a table-top tree. This year a 4 1/2 foot live tree glows in the window. For this tree I used my vintage ornaments mixed with a few newer ornaments. Most have fur or feathers.

The Study

We have our main tree in the study where we have room to seat everyone around the tree.  We decorate this down-swept tree with ornaments we have collected through the years. Some made by our son and our grandson, some from my sister and brother-in-law, and from our son and daughter-in-law. Also, a lot from dear friends and places we have traveled. This Christmas tree is full of memories.

The Dining Room

Christmas centerpiece

Blue and white foot bath holding fresh flowers and maidenhair fern. The tartan runner is from Williams Sonoma

For the plate stack I used chargers I've had for years, from Macy's, Tartan dinner plates from Williams Sonoma, party plates and bowls from Juliska

Cherubs and my putti collection are souvenirs from Rome

The French Hutch

I used a lot of pinks this year

I tuck vintage and cards and books along with Christmas cards here and there on the hutch, all from friends and family

So many little keepsakes and treasures
and you probably noticed I love bottle brush trees

The Nativity Set

from Rome

The Family Room

The Kitchen

I didn't plan on another tree but when I saw this little tree thrown into a bin, half price I knew it had to come home with me! To have been cut and not be decorated is such a waste (to me). It reminds me of the little fat trees in Paris. I decorated it with food and fruit ornaments.

Santa Cookie Jar, Fitz and Floyd

Christmas pink Cyclamen

If you are still here, thank you. I started a post before Christmas and didn't find time to finish so this picked up where that one left off. I hope you will leave a comment, it's the only way I know you were here.

  3. I don't know where to begin, I love it all so much. I think I've seen every blogger's Christmas tree this season but none -- NONE -- have excited or enchanted me more than your study tree with it's bezillions of ornaments that all have meaning for you, just sparkling! I could sit by that tree every day, all year long, and never tire of it. And your white woodland tree is enchanting. I have a woodland too and leave it up well into February for the light. We share a bottlebrush passion, don't we?! The one in the cup with the balls is an idea I will have to remember! You have beautiful unique touches, vintage and paper, that call to me and I love your silver ball wreath. Ages ago I did a ball wreath but it's too fat! I love the width of this one; it shows things off so well. And your tree topper. And absolutely everything else. You know I will be revisiting this post long after Christmas has passed!

Have a wonderful remainder of the holiday and a very Happy New Year. I'm glad you could celebrate with your family.

  4. Emily you created a Christmas wonderland in your home! I now understand why you started decorating early! Everything looks absolutely beautiful, from your gorgeous tree in the study, to the French hutch, to your dining room table, to the kitchen and beyond! My favorite things are the MKC hot air balloon with Santa and the darling tree in the kitchen decorated with fruits and vegetables! I'm so glad your family was able to be there to celebrate and enjoy with you...I wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

  16. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW, Emily!!!!!! You had such an incredibly fun, whimsical and gorgeous Christmas home this past holiday! It must take you weeks to get it like that. I bet it is just incredible in person. I love to see what others do with their homes. And there is something about heartily decorated that just rings in Christmas perfectly. The last 2 Christmases I have done very VERY paired down.......and while it was gorgeous, it just hasn't been the same.

Next year, God willing, I will get my big tree up and decorated. This last one was very easy.

Thx so much for your visit, and for your encouragement. Always a pleasure to connect again with you. I wish you all good things, sweet lady. Hugs.
