THANKSGIVING TABLESCAPE

 Portmeirion ~ Birds of Britain

I have been keeping my tables set with seasonal tablescapes during quarantine. Setting tables for me is joyful time spent. This beautiful set of Portmeirion birds belonged to my mother-in-law. They graced the corner cupboards in her dining room. She is now ninty-nine years old!
I think this set is perfect for autumn and Thanksgiving. I also pulled my Fitz and Floyd pieces that I think work beautifully with the Portmeirion. Gifts from my sister.
I used a lovely glitzy table runner under the pumpkin centerpiece. It was one I saw at Neiman's and passed up because of the high price tag. This one I found at TJ Max for a very reasonable price.

I Love using this Pierre Deux wreath for Thanksgiving

Overlapping Thanksgiving and Christmas with plants, flowers, pumpkins and Christmas trees. It makes me happy!

This beautiful Carolina Sapphire Cypress will get a string of clear twinkling lights and the pumpkins will be replaced with ornaments. It will be planted in the yard in January

Back of mugs have this pattern

The Portmeirion Birds of Britain are a modern  pattern featuring birds found in the British Empire in 1794. The early items had the green band that has been retired and was discontinued. Many of the birds have been retired and are very rare. A very special set of pottery.

The sugar and creamer are lovely. The creamer has two birds and the sugar has three around. Also, on the lid of the sugar has a lovely vine.

Thank you for stopping in.
I hope you had a wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving! Also, I hope you will leave a comment so I know you stopped in.

  1. Emily, this pattern is exquisite! I adore birds and this pattern is a dream. You have styled it beautifully. I love all the Fitz and Floyd pieces. Each piece is so unique and lovely.
Your vignettes for fall easily adaptable for Christmas are so pretty. It was clever to think of transitioning decor from fall to Christmas.
I do love that gorgeous runner too. You have such good taste. I am going back for another longer look to take it all in.
Our Thanksgiving was nice and I am glad yours was also. We were all alone but made it special.

  3. Your heirloom china pattern is very pretty. I adore bird anything. Love all the crockery pieces you showed here, as they all go so well with each other.
All your F&F pieces are gorgeous, especially that fox pitcher.
I know what you mean, I too love to create tablescapes at this time. I will soon start with the Xmas ones, although I prefer the Fall ones.

  4. Emily, your table is charming! I've never seen the Portmeirion Birds of Britain, which is a lovely pattern. How special that you have this from Jim's mother. I know she is pleased that you treasure and use this set. Fritz and Floyd always produces wonderful pieces. Love the fox and the pheasant! Yes, like you, keeping our table set for the season makes me happy too. It's one way to enjoy our pretty dishes during these times when we aren't entertaining.

  5. Oh Emily, your combination of the gorgeous Portmeiron Birds of Britain with Christmas elements and pumpkins is magical! Your dining room looks stunning! I can feel the joy you had playing with these beautiful things! I have never seen a Fitz and Floyd piece that I didn't love, and your Fox and Pheasants are wonderful with the china. Even if we can't entertain the way we would like, we can still set beautiful tables for our own enjoyment and share through photographs! And now here we are on the brink of December!

  6. WOW, Emily! Oh my, where do I begin? First of all, keeping pretty tables set has also become my happy activity throughout this year, so your comment made me smile. I have never seen this Portmeiron pattern and it is exquisite! The detail is incredible. I'm so glad you showed it. I can imagine the excitement you felt when you found the deal on that gorgeous runner. Love the Fitz & Floyd - the fox is truly handsome and the quail was a perfect addition with the poem. Lastly, all the blue & white porcelain - especially that cypress tree placed in the large footbath (?) - all just gorgeous! Your dining room looks so beautiful. I loved this, thank you for sharing, it's so inspiring!

  8. Your dining room is so elegant and beautiful, especially the mirror! (I have a thing for mirrors, so that is usually the first thing I study in a photo.). I have never seen this pattern before, so this was a real treat. It is perfect with your dining room, the way it picks up the green fabric of your chairs. What a find at TJMaxx is that table runner! I miss Fitz and Floyd. It was a big thing in Texas back when I lived in Dallas. There was an outlet, too and I always took my out of town visitors up there. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.
