A Valentine Series

A Valentine's Day Eve Supper

I am a very sentimental girl so I really have to set a table for Valentine's Day, or Eve, as in the case for this year. Since we have plans to go out for Valentine's Day I set up a table in my study, or, as Connor calls it, "the Christmas Tree room."

Since the weather has been dreadful with a lot of rain I thought something different for a damp chilly evening would be nice. I decided on pancakes and fruit, easy and delicious and definitely a treat.
I set a table for two, away from the norm of the breakfast room or the dining room.

I love using this round table for a change. It works for two to four so it's very cozy. I'm using a table runner from Michael's, cut in half. I love for the rich wood in the table to show through and the gold in the runner picks up the gold rim on the plates.
MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check is the perfect choice to go with pinks and reds for Valentine's Day.

My sweet husband brought this azalea plant home early in the week and I knew the color would be gorgeous in the MacKenzie-Childs flower pot for a beautiful centerpiece.

Using a tiered stand on one side of the centerpiece I needed something for the other side. I prefer symmetry so I pulled out a
black tiered stand to use on the opposite side.
MacKenzie-Childs salad plates hold the fruit bowls on the tiered stand.

  5. I really like the idea of setting a table in an unexpected place. It freshens things up! We had such a bd experience last year eating out on Valentine's Day - short staffed, rushed service and bad food, we've decided to stay in this year. Hope you have a great romantic night out with an excellent meal. Tell us all about it!

How did I miss those candies at Trader Joe's - I have been babysitting while my daughter went on Safari, so not a lot got done this last week! I love that you celebrated two times - great idea! 13. Such a gorgeous table Emily. Your CC collection is just stunning for your Valentine post. Wish they were on my table. Sweet pic of your hubby and his Mom. He is fortunate to still have Miss Martha with you. Nice to be able to use your round table; I miss not designing tablescapes on my round table that I used in Kansas City.

  16. Looks like you had the best valentine's gettogether ever dear! The table with the angel wings looks exceptional. The who-opens-this-must-have-a-kiss box is a clever thought, it needs to be shared to my friends. I'm pinning it to my vacation ideas board! Cheers, and in your free time, do share some craft ideas for decorating the living room, would love to learn from you!
