TALES OF THE TRAVELING TOTES TABLESCAPE

A Summer Garden Tablescape

We love spending time on our veranda but not so much during the summer with the ever present humidity and heat. At the most time spent here is early morning breakfast and coffee. So, with no dining and certainly no gardening outside until fall I enjoy adding flowers and plants to the rectangular and square dining tables. When the challenge came from the Traveling Tote friends to do a tablescape using our MacKenzie~Childs totes as a centerpiece, I decided to do a summer garden scape and brought a few pieces of Courtly Check outside to use with the totes. The heavy urn I was using as my table centerpiece was already in place and I didn't want to move it so I am using a Little Lime Hydrangea that I will plant in the garden in the fall. I tucked it into Miss Courtney and sat it on one end of the table and added flowering plants to Miss Blossom for the opposite end of the table for a Traveling Tote Tablescape!

Looking from the pergola toward the Veranda

I like how CC works with terra-cotta

Using Purslane, Blue Daze Evolvulus, asparagus fern, ivy topiaries, succulents, Mexican heather are among plants I enjoy

Mushrooms are popping up everywhere

Love these little CC lidded chowder bowls with succulents tucked inside

Mr. Rabbit gets a haircut every spring and late fall. He was an Easter gift from my sister years ago

Fairy garden with a pumpkin patch and black and white!

I hope you enjoyed a little tablescaping fun while I dressed up the veranda with Mackenzie~Childs totes. Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you know how much I love your visits. Please leave a comment, it's the only way I know you came by.

I hope you will visit my Traveling Tote friends for more tablescape ideas and be sure to come back September 1, 2017 for a giveaway and see where our travels take us next.

  1. WOW - you certainly have a green thumb! And you have shown us that CC goes with anything, anywhere. Love your take on the tablescape - very clever AND stunning! I need your green thumb skills as I can barely grow weeds!! Enjoy the rest of the summer!

  2. I am enthralled with your gorgeous veranda! Lush plants in pretty containers and succulents have blown me away this morning. How clever to place a limelight in your tote to plant later! I agree MC works great with terra cotta!
You have the gift of presentation and group your plants and containers beautifully. I could sit on your veranda all day and enjoy talking to you despite the heat!
I am having to contain myself not to start a MC collection. It is enchanting.
Love the TT adventures and I want to sit and view each post but must be somewhere so I'll catch up later.
    Fun and clever post, Emily!

  3. Oh Emily, what a gardener's delight, Courtly Check overflowing with blooms, trailing plants and succulents! You put my black thumb to shame with all your lovelies, an ivy covered bunny and even a fairy garden filled with pumpkins in ready for fall! How much fun you must have had fluttering and fluffing your precious plants and totes, although as your Alabama neighbor I know there was a bead or two of sweat on your brow! Just beautiful!!

  5. Emily, Sometimes I come to your blog and stay for a very. long. time. because each photo is so full of delights!! I'm looking at those gorgeous chowder bowls, so cleverly filled with succulents, and then I see the beauty with her asparagus fern wild hairdo and the chafing dish (!) and of course the pop of red umbrella! Love the blue bistro chairs and the blue anduze pots too! It would truly be delightful to sit here with you and then explore your collections. Linda

  6. Emily, you have created the perfect MacKenzie-Childs "garden". I love the idea of filling your pieces with succulents. Your veranda is so inviting and as Jenna points out, " a gardener's delight." Each time I see your chowder bowls, I have a twinge of envy. I'm definitely adding these to my wish list! I love your take on the challenge and hats off to you for doing this in the summer heat! Bravo!

  8. Well, Emily, it may be sweltering in your region, but the eye sure can fool by the looks of your yard and garden. What a gorgeous area! I can tell you right now, you are going to love that limelight in the garden. I planted my first of what may become a few by next year - they hold up to heat and drought so beautifully, and I was at an event the other night with several planted as a border, and they are outstandingly beautiful in the dusk light. Miss Courtney will be wishing to hold another once that one is planted. ;) Happy August, my friend.

  12. Emily you have such a wonderful collection of McKenzie Childs pottery! It looks so beautiful on your pretty veranda. I love growing flowers and herbs in flower pots like you do--it's easy gardening as long as one remembers to water them frequently. We have been having a hot and dry summer in Colorado but today I actually felt a cooler breeze that told me that autumn is not far away. It's my favorite season!

  16. May I move into your verandah? Oh, it's so pretty. I promise -- you'd hardly know I was there! The herbs and flowers look perfect and I love your blue chair covers. Looks cool and a cucumber though I'm sure that's far from the truth at this time of year! And I think you'll love your Limelight. I just planted one at home in my back yard and it's already going great guns!

  18. Emily your veranda looks positively stunning! I love all your MC accessories and gorgeous plantings. I must admit that I am pea green with envy when I see your magnificent topiaries. I have two that are dying and I am doing everything I can to save them. Hope you have a wonderful week, dear Emily.
