Tales of The Traveling Tote
If it is June it is time for Tales of the Traveling Tote! Our group welcomes our newest member, Linda P and Miss Lola. You will find Linda at Life and Linda blog where she may very well be working in her gardens. Welcome Linda!
Beach Tripping
If it is spring then you will probably find me
driving south. In a little over five hours I will be in my favorite beach town, Seaside, FL. A small town feel with sugar white sandy beaches, art galleries, fine restaurants and outdoor cafes, shopping and all that makes for a perfect vacation! Jim and I usually go down for a week in the spring and then a week in the fall with long weekends between. We spent our spring week here in early May. The weather was wonderful, not hot and actually this year a little on the cool side with windy days.
Checking into our two bedroom condo we have a Gulf front view in the living/dining room and a gulf front view in the master bedroom. While drifting to sleep I love to leave the door open and listen to the waves and what a great view first thing in the morning! My sister and brother-in-law joined us later in the week.
Sitting on the balcony having early morning coffee is my favorite part of the day
Molly, Courtney and Blossom (Scarlet forgot to pose for photo)
Ready to go to the beach, these totes just waiting to be filled with towels, sodas, sunscreen and beach necessities
Walkway to the beach
Under the umbrella and all set to enjoy the day
The sound of rolling waves, fresh ocean air and wind usually has me napping in no time
It was quiet windy this day, actually chilly so a cover-up was essential. No problem, Miss Courtney has one packed for me
One day is for art galleries and shopping
The local elementary school is in a beautiful location. I'm sure these kiddos can't wait for school to be out
Nancy Swann Drew was an artist who sold her work here. I'd hoped to find anything but no such luck! Everything is sold and nothing new added for quiet some time. I was so disappointed Patti
A great hutch
Blue and white
Love this cherub
Scarlet has a favorite restaurant for lunch
and Dinner
I always feel like I need a weeks vacation when I arrive but I also need to rest up after a vacation!

Good Morning, dear Emily! OMG all I can say is that your girls are pretty darn lucky. Seaside, Fl looks positively heavenly! The food! The shopping! I need to put it on my bucket list! I am a sucker for yard art and I love the ones in your photographs! On a side note - I've tried to put your link on my blogroll and for some reason it is a no-go. Can you give me a hint how to do it? Anyway, thanks for the tour. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou and your totes look like you enjoyed your favorite Seaside beach time, Emily. I loved the whimsical garden benches and all the garden decor (love the cherub that you loved, too!). The pathway to the beach had me oohing and ahhing! I wish I could go to your favorite spots with you, and then lunch afterwards.
ReplyDeleteOh Emily!!! Where to begin??? First of all, you know I love your beautiful beach photos! But the shopping, swoon~ those fabulous benches! and the painting! I'm not familiar with that artist but the painting reminds me of Birmingham's Joan Curtis, who paints faceless people in a similar style. Your waterlogue photos are just wonderful, love love the last one with the hat! I love Red Bar too...I must venture over to Seaside for a day of shopping, maybe this fall when there are fewer visitors!

Emily, you and Jenna have me longing for a beach trip of my own. I love those sugar white beaches of the FL Gulf. Our TX Gulf beaches can't compare! It's relaxing just to think of you sitting on that balcony high above the waves enjoying a morning coffee and then off to the sandy beach for reading under one of those umbrellas.
ReplyDeleteEmily, thank you for the sweet welcome. It is a pleasure to join this fun group. How fun to be able to enjoy your favorite beach. the food looks amazing. Miss Courtney Childs and your girls look right at home. The garden art is so cute, especially the cat bench. Looks like me and my mister have to do more traveling so we can experience this fun destinations.I hope you get to visit Monterey in the near future. Happy Thursday.
ReplyDeleteEmily, I have serious beach envy looking at that gorgeous white sand and the views from your condo! I would love this town and the shops. I especially like the cute bunny with the wheelbarrow and his veggies. Your tote family is growing and I may have to join you with a summer tote too. Thanks for taking us to Seaside for a little holiday rest. I'm all in agreement with the idea of doing nothing and then resting! :) Linda
ReplyDeleteA lovely town with so much to do. Wishing you warm days and gentle breezes. Here on the east coast of Florida, we have a chance of showers for the next week.
ReplyDeleteEmily, your photos of Seaside are beautiful and I especially love the Waterlogue ones. Seaside is such an interesting little beach community with the art galleries...and the shopping is so much fun. We have been to Red Bar a couple of times and it is good food with a lively atmosphere. This is such an enjoyable post!!

Ohhh, Seaside is on my bucket list. Your pics are beautiful and I adore those birdhouses. I wonder if Nancy Drew is still in that area. I have pics from her home and if I can find them, i will send you copies! Your view of the water is just gorgeous...Happy Tales!
ReplyDeleteMany of these photos looked familiar, especially the restaurants, which we had the pleasure of eating at thanks to your recommendation last year. Like you, I LOVE Seaside! Such a pretty, peaceful town.
ReplyDeleteThe bunny with his cute booty sticking up made me smile Emily. A very 'happy' post today!

Gorgeous scenery at Seaside. The sugar white sands are so compelling and I felt as if I were sitting there in the beach chair enjoying the sounds, the breeze and the beautiful water right along with you. Then to go shopping and visit an art gallery and have a delightful lunch looked like so much fun. The shop had some tempting things.
ReplyDeleteThe food looked delicious.
I especially like your waterlogue pictures. You should frame those.
I've been looking forward to the traveling totes posts and have been out of pocket all day and am out this evening so hope to catch up tomorrow. It was fun traveling with you.
Have a great weekend. Bonnie
Seaside has been on my list dear Emily. Your pics of the views are breathtaking. Your tote family looks right at home hanging out in Seaside! Have a perfect weekend! We have a great group.
ReplyDeleteOh Emily, I just love Seaside! It had been on my bucket list, and we finally traveled there while my daughter was in school at FSU, a few years ago. Though it's a bit out of the way with air travel and long driving otherwise, I still loved that area (Grayton, Seaside, WaterColor and Seagrove) so much. You are so fortunate to own a slice of that bit of heaven! Your family of totes are not only a great ensemble, but that HAT!! Oh my, I love it! All the little shops and galleries are so wonderfully quaint (that HUTCH, yes please!). Thank you for taking us on this trip....this would be a wonderful fall retreat, I can certainly see that (before all the snowbirds, right?). So happy you're party of this circle of friendship.

I love it when you go to the beach, Emily! Oh, this is divine. That photo from your room looking down at the blue umbrellas made my heart swoon and on the sand -- how glorious! Of course we would be great shopping pals.I think we'd go to all the same stores! And we'd be loving lunch and snacks! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy the Tote posts -- and the drawing is extra fun! (Oh, and your waterlogues? Perfection.)
Love that area! That's where my Dad is from! Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun Emily! THAT view is GORGEOUS! Happy Friday;}
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post. Thank you, want to go here right away.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, make me long for summer holidays!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great view! That looks like my kind of vacation!
ReplyDeleteYou visited some of my very favorite haunts on 30-A! It's been far too long since we've visited. *sadface* Loved seeing your photos and touring vicariously through your post! Loved seeing your pictures.
