Under The Roses
Our roses are simply stunning this year! They started blooming early and we still have roses blooming. They seem bigger and there are more of them. The poor dears have been neglected so I can't imagine why the rose show. There are roses climbing into the trees. Have you ever seen a rose tree? Pictures do not do them justice this year. I decided to take advantage of the petal showers and set up my favorite rusty table and chairs for a little tea for two. Won't you please join me under the roses?

These desert sets, plate and cup have seen many teas and coffees. I have a set of twelve, only marked with a number.
I've had these stored away for years, the pretty rose design perfect for spring and summer

My MIL started downsizing a while back and returned the Anthropologie tea towel I gifted her.
This is, was a tea rose topiary, the wind snapped it! It is hanging by a thread and blooming its heart out. If any of you know how I can save it I would appreciate you sharing.

I hope you enjoyed a little tea and the rose show. I love your visits so if you are still here, thank you. I would love if you would leave a comment so I know you dropped in.

Good Morning and truly it is after spending such lovely time with you under the roses and our Tea for two!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a treat for me, your rose garden is magnificent. Our roses do not grow like this in our Texas heat, so I will marvel at yours. My Mother had a lovely rose garden (Idaho) and she took such good care of them, just as you do yours:)
I don't know how to fix the rose topiary-I just know you are so sad. We have had high and hard winds too.
Such a sweet, charming and delicate tea set and linens...aw...heavenly!
I am so happy you joined us, be sure to share this beautiful post on Thursday too!
Now, I am going back and pinning away!
Happy Gardening Hugs,
Jemma
I wish I could join you, Emily, under the canopy of roses, at your beautiful tea table. Your dessert sets are so darling, and your flatware is perfect for your rose tea. Isn't that tea towel the sweetest? I'm so glad that your dear MIL gifted it back to you. I hope someone knows how to save your rose topiary!
ReplyDeleteOh, I should love to be sipping tea with you right now! Your roses are beyond words, they are so beautiful. It will be a couple months till we see roses at all here -- and none in my view will be as spectacular as these! Love the table setting -- so pretty! And a lucky give back! Nothing could be more perfect!
ReplyDeleteRoses, croissants, and a table for two...sounds pretty perfect to me. Do you know what the variety of that rosebush is? I have a Peace rose that is supposed to climb but the stalks are so huge that it's not really happening.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful this morning. This reminds me of a pretty page from Victoria magazine. :)
Have a great week!
So happy to see this beautiful post pop up at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Thank you for joining us bright and early this morning. :)
DeleteEmily, what better place to sit and sip tea than under a canopy of roses? They truly are stunning! Would love an area like this in my garden. My rose garden is young and I can't wait until it puts on an amazing show! The dishes are just perfect in all of their sweetness. Thanks for sharing with the garden party!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Oh, so beautiful! The roses hanging over the wood fence makes a splendid setting for tea. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteEmily, how I wish I were sitting under that beautiful cascading rose chatting and having tea with you, dear friend. Every detail is filling my senses on this cloudy morning here in TX. The tea time table is so welcoming with its pretty tea set and dessert sets. I'm happy that sweet tea towel has come back to you. It is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe rose petals that gently showered onto the grass below is the perfect touch for your party.
Your roses are just gorgeous! Wonderful spot for tea under the roses ... and having rose tea. The yummies look good too! Picture perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh my, Emily, what an exquisite spot to have tea! Your roses are gorgeous and the petals, I love how they carpet the grass. Your snack sets are very pretty and go perfectly with your rose theme. A really beautiful post and I'm so happy you shared it with us. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
the roses are really putting on a show for you and now for us. Love the table set up and the pink snow
ReplyDeleteMB
Your photos are stunning ... the roses are fabulous ... that sweet tablecloth has me thinking about making something similar ... and that table setting is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI loved my little visit to your garden today.
Hello, you have a prtty spot for tea! The roses are just beautiful, I love the color. Gorgeous post! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteEmily, your roses are truly beautiful. They are my fav flower and sinsce I have seen them many times - they are truly beautiful this year! Loved your tea tables also. Oh and I LOVE THAT MUSIC!
ReplyDeleteGloria
Your roses are so beautiful. I live in deep South Texas, and my roses love the heat- but they never look like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing yours with us at today's Garden Party!
I am so glad you shared this at TOHOT!
DeleteI didn't ask before-
what is that lovely flatware pattern?
Happy TOHOT!
As always, we are glad you are here.
Laura
What beautiful roses.
ReplyDeleteI tried twice to comment on my ipad in the car this morning and lost my comment both times. We were traveling back from Huntsville today.
ReplyDeleteLove your post. Your roses are exquisite. I loved the tea table under the arbor. Such a charming and delightful table setting with lovely pieces. Sweet plates and cups perfect with your vintage cloth. The little chair is adorable. I would love to be sitting there with you chatting away.
That last shot is a different rose. It is gorgeous!
I loved the garden party.
The best way to save your rose topiary is to use budding/grafting tape, carefully pull it back to where it should be and apply the tape firmly, it will not rot and water should not get under the tape, and use a stake to support for a couple of years. The rose is a hardy plant in the garden and it will be saved. Suzana from Australia
ReplyDeleteThank you Suzana!
DeleteEmily, how beautiful!! I have similarly hued roses (a variety called Joseph's Coat), though not a tree, I absolutely adore the coloring variations within a single flower. Yours are just beautiful! I love the natural beauty of letting a flowering plant grow as it will, but I also appreciate the tidiness which my husband seems to need in a landscape; alas, I choose my battles wisely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful elements to the table - the dishes, the food, utensils, that towel! How wonderful! Picture perfect!
Rita
What a pretty outdoor tea setting. This is the first time that I've seen a "rose tree". Lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are gorgeous! You have such a beautiful lawn! We are planning to plant some knock out roses under our bedroom window. They do well here in the sun and heat. I sure love lots of pretty blooms! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow the roses truly are gorgeous! I love how you set up your table with the tea and china. They graft the roses to a tree so I'm guessing that the tree portion has died and that's why they came off so easily in the wind. They must be rooted somehow an being kept alive by another means. Love your post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous setting, Emily! Those roses are stunning!...Christine
ReplyDeleteOh my, what glorious roses you have! It must be so pleasant to sit under them and inhale their fragrance, Emily. The rose is my birth month flower so it has always been a favorite. Sadly, I can not grow them here--the deer will eat them all like candy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty setting for a lovely Tea. The roses are beautiful and so are those dishes!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
What a fairy tale setting Emily! Those pink roses! I LOVE the way they drape naturally forming a story book background for your tea table for two! I have no garden knowledge, zip, nil, nada, but it doesn't look like you need it to me! Your table is over the top adorable with the little painted chair, the pink bow, the wonderful tablecloth, and elegant dessert sets...it is all truly magical and has brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Good morning Emily! I had no idea you were such a prolific gardener. Your roses look like something off a postcard, and the dishes are simply precious!
ReplyDeleteI see you've gotten advice about the tree. Roses are more resilient than we give them credit for. It will come back and be better than ever!
xxx
Emily, this looks like a photo shoot for a magazine. Your roses are spectacular, and your tea setting is perfect under the roses. How perfect that even your tea cups have roses on them. Your vintage tablecloth is lovely. A beautiful setting for tea.
ReplyDeleteThere are several of us that would like to come for tea Emily :) Your roses are just incredible and that vintage table .. love it all. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are gorgeous, Emily!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and serene scene. Your climber is amazing! I have a total of 5 rose trees and a small climber and want to add more. Thank you so very much for linking up to the garden party. Your post was completely enchanting.

Very, very gorgeous chère Emily! Roses and old linen, white garden chairs and spring? PERFECTION, and your photos here are so lovely. I cannot wait for my summer vacation to begin the first week of June. I want to get as much out of my play days with Clara (thank you for commenting) and we have begun again. We had a session last week and will have another this weekend, and I am having a blast. I hope to capture more of the roses in bloom here as we unspool the warm weather surprises.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a gorgeous weekend!!!!! Anita

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful "Tea In The Garden" and I want to invite you to link today for the first "Tea In The Garden" blog party for this season. Your roses are amazing. I am sure you have seen the photo of Lady Katherine in front of her climbing roses! I enjoyed my visit here!
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned the chair covers so here is where I made 24 sets a few years back out of old table cloths and pillowcases: http://blog.bernideens.com/2010/07/making-chair-covers-from-old-vintage.html

ReplyDeleteSimply dreamy, dear friend. I enjoyed a quick peek earlier this week. What a dreamy secret garden scene. Thank goodness your beautiful tea towel made its way back to you...I am in love with it. I have to make time to stop by Anthropologie one of these days.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
xoxo
I would be delighted to join you for the Little tea party among the beautiful roses. My favorite flower. Mine have really done well this year.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are maginficent! It's too early here for roses, especially with our cold spring this year, so it was delightful to join you for tea with these lovely dishes and so many roses surrounding the darling table.
ReplyDeleteWow, everything is beautiful. I loved your table and the set up. I actually do little table vignettes similar but in miniature. I loved your scones and jam. So pretty. Your style is gorgeous. Loved this post.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debbie
This is one of the prettiest tables I've ever seen, Emily. I love it! So lovely!!! And the setting is stunning! I hope you didn't sustain any damage last night during the storms. I worked all week in our garden, and I dread going home. I heard our neighborhood was hit pretty hard with winds and lightning!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I will be featuring your beautiful tea post at No Place Like Home tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.

ReplyDeleteEmily, Thank you for sharing your glorious roses and charming tea in the garden! The roses are gorgeous with the delicate yellow center and all the shades of pink! I love pink! I see that you have some advice for saving the rose topiary so please let us know how things go with it. I have just lost all my knock out roses to the disease which has affected so many this year. Luckily I can come here and see yours. I wish I could sit with you in your garden at the table with those linens and the bunny ivy and munch on a croissant. Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful set up! Your roses are gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend! Maria
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, thank you for visiting. I think you should definitely go shopping for a caftan too. Can you imagine how perfect it would be for your tea? Is that a cast iron strainer I spy this time? I tell you, this post is magic. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, friend.
xoxo
Great question Marcia! The tea strainer comes from Germany. It was given to my husband from his mom after his dad died. When his dad was in Germany in WW11, he found it after a bombing. It is metal alloy, two pieces. How it stayed intact is anyone's guess! A special piece to say the least….
DeleteOH, I loved this post the first time I saw it, I love it more now. Since my summer vacation will be starting in about 3 weeks, I can't wait to get into that garden of mine and have a true tea party!
ReplyDeleteMerci Emily, for having come to visit my blog!
