We welcomed spring here weeks ago and now summer and its sunny hot days have arrived. For the most, it was a wet spring with a lot of rain. Of course all those showers left the flower beds with a lot of weeds. We needed to replace a lot of shrubs in containers so we've had plenty of work outside to catch up with. The roses were plentiful but didn't last long with all the rain. Today I want to share photos of my flowers and a few spring vignettes. I changed up the mantle in the family room and I found a really special piece of Quimper for the hutch. Join me for a quick tour.
Hydrangeas in a French pail for the antique kitchen table.
Succulents in a quirky container.
Love the bark on the crepe myrtles.
Spring showers and roses.
Ground cover with pink blooms
Pink Petal Showers
Replacing shrubbery
I have baby rabbits with big white cotton tails living in the beds. They sure scratch and leave pine straw all over the walkways. This little stone rabbit sits among the flowers year round and never makes a mess.
While visiting my sister in Atlanta a few weeks ago I found this piece of Quimper marked with a low price. Upon closer inspection I found a crack running down the side. The front and back are flawless, missing a lid I think but I decided it would be a great addition to my collection for displaying on the hutch. I love the way it looks nestled between my collection of copper containers.
Back outside I need to repaint the iron bench and the pillow covers are faded. Love the pattern so I may try to dye some color back into them.
Spring and you will find ducks and rabbits in my kitchen. A few vignettes I enjoyed making.
I found these mini urns and just fell in love with them. I changed them out replacing the little cherub pots I've used here far to long.
Keeping the candleholders I add two pots found at Anthropologie. I added the fern balls and I have an easy look for summer.
I wanted to try a new recipe. Oven roasted brussels sprout and cauliflower. They are simply delicious. Simply wash and pat dry.
Break into florets
Drizzle with olive oil.
Bake on a baking sheet at 350 degrees for about twenty minutes or until tender. I love to drizzle a little freshly squeezed lemon juice over my veggies. Served with smoked chicken breast, an easy and healthy dinner.
We have made a few weekend getaways and been so busy doing spring cleaning and yard work. I am clearing out and cleaning closets and now I'm beginning a new project. Come back later and see what I'm up to, I can't believe I'm doing this! So tell me please, what are you doing to get ready for summer?
Emily your yard and gardens look beautiful as well as all the pretty vignettes inside! Great post!!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteEmily, your garden is full of color and beauty. I can visualize myself sitting out with you enjoying a cup of tea. Oh, how I wish we could actually do that.

Your photos are always such a treat! Your gardens are just beautiful, and I love the roses crawling along the fence top. Our neighbor has those which we get share to some degree on the fence along one side of our house. We liked them so much we planted some on our pergola. They finally bloomed this year. Do they come back and bloom again this year - I can't remember. I think your bench is spectacular, too.
ReplyDeleteThe Quimper piece is beautiful and looks so familiar. Your garden is lovely: I love brick patios.
ReplyDeleteOh Emily, such a lovely garden. Your roses and hydrangea are gorgeous and your pottery is so pretty. Roasted and grilled veges are so tasty and your meal above looks delicious;)

So much here but I had to hurry to the end to sing the praises of your photo of the Lamb and the Cross. I simply adore that image (pun totally intended). Happy day to you.
ReplyDeleteI love your roses tumbling over the fence. So romantic and dreamy looking! It's hot summer-time here already for sure! Getting ready to hibernate inside for a few months.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the eye-candy!
hi Emily! So nice to see you back! Your rose arbor with the chandy and your table for deux is my favorite! Love your new Quimper piece too, it looks like it was made for your setting! Yes, we definitely had rain all spring, my back yard is a jungle! Sorry about your messy bunnies, we have squirrels that dig up absolutely everything! Love all your spring vignettes and your new "old" stone urns. Have a great holiday weekend and don't work too hard!

For summer? Playing with lots of color, traveling to Italy through Frances Mayes' writing, and sitting by the ocean as much as I can...oh yes, wedding planning. Sigh...I need a vacation next year. :)
