Sun, Sand and Sea
My spring fling was recently spent at the gulf coast and it was a beautiful week. The small towns of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, AL are quiet after the spring break crowd leaves and before the season begins. A week for walking on the beach and sitting beachside with a book is just about my favorite pastime. A favorite place since I was a little girl, when I traveled here on vacations with my family.

During the week The Southern Bloggers Jubliee meeting was being held in Fairhope so I made the forty-five minute drive over. It was a very informative meeting and I enjoyed meeting other bloggers from the area. We enjoyed a wonderful seafood lunch at a local restaurant after the meeting. If any of you are interested in attending the meetings please click on the link on my sidebar. I hope to make more of these meetings in the future. Of course I always enjoy visiting my friends in Fairhope and you can visit this quaint southern town too, my past posts here and here. Fairhope is a lovely town on Mobile Bay and this town is know for it’s flowers. Such colorful gardens and the air is filled with a floral fragrance. This week the petunias were delightful!

It was a lovely week to visit the beach. Hope you enjoyed my photos. Please leave me a comment, it’s the only way I know you stopped by.

How I love Fairhope! This had to be a wonderful vacation for you. My grandmother was from Mobile, and we have been everywhere along the Gulf coast, saving wondering memories as we went. Great post !!
ReplyDeleteI have never visited this part of the country. It looks wonderful! You chose a lovely place to stay.
ReplyDeleteThis post has stolen my heart.. The sunrise photos are my favorite time.. A new day, a new beginning. What a beautiful beach. It looks like you had a wonderful time... All of your photos are just beautiful! I agree that a week by the beach and a good book is the perfect vacation getaway! Those petunias just gorgeous and I saw a pink dish in one of those windows I would love to have!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!

We so love going to the beach....love the sand and waves and the splashing....*heavy sigh....we are so so far away from a beach of any sort. Loved seeing all your great photos.
ReplyDeleteI have only been there once, but did not get to enjoy all the luxuries you did. I felt like I have been there again through your lens.
ReplyDeleteWe were all so happy you were able to join us for the meeting in Fairhope. It's hard to tear yourself away from the beach for anything, let alone a meeting!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful vacation you had! Your pictures are spectacular and now I am feeling like I need a beach vacation too:) There is nothing like the sound of water and the warmth of the sun to relax and free the spirit:) ..glad you had fun. xxleslie
ReplyDeleteI'd like one of those colourful beach cottage, please! Wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful was your Spring Fling. The white sandy beaches are calling my name, we will be sunning on the beaches in Mexico in July-so excited. All the condos are lovely pastel colors.

Between your photos and splendid music, I feel as if I am there enjoying the sun on my face and gentle breezes. I love the Gulf.♥
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, dear Emily. Thank you for all you do to make Pink Saturdays special. It means so much to me.
Emily, glad you two had a fabulous spring fling. Makes me smile! Your photos take me away to sandy beaches and the sound of waves. Oh, how nice it would be to have a beach get away.
ReplyDeleteEmily, I have never been to Alabama! I have been on the Gulf Coast of Florida and I loved the beaches there. From your pictures I can see that I would love this beach too! The sunset shot is gorgeous and those colorful houses are so unique. You have made me yearn for the beach! Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a great getaway, Emily! Our favorite vacations are beach vacations. We love renting condos and houses for the privacy; and beachfront is the best! It looks like you had an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog on Pink Saturday.
ReplyDeleteThe place where you stayed on vacation looks gorgeous. I love the colors of the beach cottages especially. (Up here in New England we see mostly white and black, or gray, brown, etc.--pretty bland when contrasted with those cottages.)
Wow. The scenery is amazing and looks so restful. Great shops too.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, what stunning photos!! Wow! I am lucky enough to be in OB right now and I am still sitting here ohhhing and ahhhing over your pictures! The Church Mouse in Fairhope is one of my favorite shops to photograph and I hope to go back one day to take lots of pics of the quaint shops and flowers~ it is getting crowded now here, and I plan on stocking up for the weekend early and watching all the action from the porch! I see you ate at Cayman Grill, isn't that place fabulous!

Emily, this looks way too fabulous! Those sunsets (rises) are to die for! And a bloggers confab? How fun is that! It's been three years since I've seen the ocean and these photos make me just a tad homesick for surf -- and sun! Beautiful in every way -- so glad you had great fun, but then, how could you not?
ReplyDelete:D Alabama has a beautiful coastline. I know you had fun in Fairhope, too. We're going to the beach at the end of the summer. Shelley will b e in school until June 24!
ReplyDeleteWe've been enjoying a glorious spring here in SWFL - I'm glad you had such a good time in AL
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so gentle sweet Emily; the music, the photos of such charming places. This art of ours, to share what is important to us, this is what makes our world better. Oh if only others would engage in the observation and celebration of that which is fleeting and beautiful, may then would we treat each other gently...I love your vision, the flowers, the SHOPS! The shore....thank you for visiting me and leaving a comment. I love your new header, and may your spring/summer be full of love and promise. Anita

Emily! You were practically in my backyard. Well, close enough to Florida...teehee. With all the ocean surrounding our state, and the many beautiful shores, the Gulf side has been my favorite for years. The sunsets are spectacular and the shelling priceless. Not sure if it varies in Alabama, but it's heaven in Florida. You actually enjoyed quite a bit of pink indulgence too.
ReplyDeleteNow, I simply MUST find out more about The Southern Bloggers. Thx for sharing.
Happy Pinks!!
