A Valentine’s Tablescape
We have more cold, ice and snow predicted this week with two back to back storms! With plans to go to a Valentine’s dinner, I decided to go ahead and set a table should the inclement weather change our plans and keep us home.
This is the perfect excuse to use this gorgeous ruby red on white stoneware by Juliska. I received the platter for Christmas after dropping a lot of hints over it last year at Neiman’s. After the holidays I found the remaining pieces on sale at an unbelievable sixty percent off. One of those “Déjà Vu" moments when you know you’ll never see this bargain again! So, I grabbed up my bargains and didn’t let this opportunity pass me by.
This stoneware is a perfect design and color to use for this cold Valentine’s Day. Ruby red and white and the winter scenes mimic some of the gaiety occurring outside my window, provided by neighborhood school children home because of “snow day” school closings. If the roads are dangerous because of icy conditions we plan to stay home. Either way I wanted to set a casual table in the kitchen to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Wish everyone could drop by for a comfort cup of hot cocoa. Hope you will leave a comment and let me know you were here.
Happy Valentine’s Day.............

Emily, we are like peas in a pod! I'm giddy with delight that you found these dishes as such a great price. These are perfect for Valentine's Day. I may have to add the winter ones to our cupboard. The autumn harvest stole my heart and now these have squeezed right in there too! The pewter, vintage candlesticks, and tartan all work well with this charming pottery. Snuggle in and enjoy that cup of comforting hot chocolate. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteNice table setting. It is very cozy and homey looking.

Those dishes are so pretty. I'd feel a little difficult getting them dirty. But then again, with a tablesetting like the one you've presented I'm sure I wouldn't feel that guilty because the food would taste so great. Hope you have a fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, those plates are so lovely :) - you have set a beautiful table setting ... I really love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Emily, hands down the BEST Valentines table I've seen! Your Juliksa is gorgeous, I love love love all the sweet scenes. Emily, Your table is so pretty and festive. The tartan is perfect with the dishes. I recently purchased a few pieces of Juliska and LOVE it:) The glasses are gorgeous and so delicate. Enjoy your evening and I hope the weather eases up soon. Seattle is grey.. but not too cold. We've had a mild season compared to you all. xxleslie
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning, Emily. I wish I could drop by for some hot cocoa! I love the scenery on your plates...so appropriate given the weather conditions around our state today! UGH SO OVER IT!!!
ReplyDeleteIt does my heart good to see pretty things for St. Valentine's Day. I haven't done much this year as I've been way to sad.

ReplyDeleteFabulous tablescape, Emily -- it's so beautiful. I do love that china -- I haven't seen that pattern and I can see why you fell in love with it. Everything -- quite perfect! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely divine! I love every bit of it, especially the fact that you are not rushing through winter when everyone seems to skip right to spring the second the holidays are over. Ugghh...no one savors life anymore.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's, Emily. Save me some chocolate. ;)
The music was perfect as always.

This is gorgeous and I love the dinnerware, stunning pattern and scenes. The plaid is just the perfect accent. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWow you are so lucky to have that beautiful Juliska dinnerware! I really like it and how you created a winter tablescape and Valentine's Day together. I definitely like those aged pewter pieces- they add a nice organic tie into the look. Winter's still hanging on here too.... spring is in the far distance around this part! Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteOh Emily, I love your beautiful new dishes. The scene is delightful and of course I love red and white. Your vintage candle holders look so pretty with the chargers, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by for your visit. xo
p.s. Those French-style pecan pies are calling to me from your previous post. I must make them sometime!!
A beautiful way to share a Valentine day.
ReplyDeleteDearest Emily,
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine to you as well!
Especially those Scottish Mary Stuart tartan placemats are lovely.
Hugs,
Mariette
This is wonderful, Emily! I think a pretty good number of us will be celebrating Valentine's Day with snow & ice on the ground. This tablescape is perfect to reflect exactly the kind of 14th we'll be working with!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is smart of you to plan ahead just in case. I think a LOT of people have been rather unpleasantly surprised by how crippling the snow and ice can be, even when it's just "a dusting."
Enjoy your Valentine's Day whatever you do!
How can anything else be more perfect than these Juilista plates. The scenery is perfect in this snowy and cold weather. Your table s set so beautifully, Emily....Christine
ReplyDeleteExquisite! I particularly like the heart napkin rings, though the red and white dishes are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures are depicted on your lovely plate, Emily--they are so pretty! I also really like your vintage candlestick. I hope your Valentine's Day was great, and hope you made it out for dinner.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful setting! I love the candle sticks and heart napkin rings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, hope your day was filled with love.
Hugs,
Patti

Beautiful table Emily. Love the plates, it's such a perfect pattern for winter. Your tartan plaid is striking for the table. Candle light is always stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are gorgeous and you always do the extra things to make everything come together just right. Enjoy your week my friend!
ReplyDeleteCatching up on my blogs, Emily! This is such a pretty setting for Valentine's Day! We did a quiet dinner for two at home, just to avoid the crowds. It was so nice to just relax and enjoy the evening. Did you get to use your setting?
ReplyDeleteLove your stoneware, so pretty. Your table setting is just perfect. Also, I'm going to try your pecan pie recipe. Enjoyed you post.
