THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS

Thanksgiving Traditions

Celebrating Thanksgiving is a much loved family tradition with my family. Whether traveling to grandmother’s house as we did when our son was young or entertaining family or friends the celebration is always the same. Decorating with autumn colors using simple bounty is what I enjoy. Making a grapevine wreath with burlap ribbon for the front door, adding color with mums from the garden shop and it’s all done quickly during this busy season allowing more time in the kitchen for preparing the “feast"!

Ornamental cabbage and mums added to flower beds for seasonal color.

Candles for easy and welcoming vignettes

And, as crisp cool days turn cold seasonal color arrives just in time for Thanksgiving!

Only to swept away with the big storm that swept across our country this week.

My Narcissus “Paperwhites” are coming up right on schedule for Christmas and are covered with autumn leaves.

Thanksgiving traditions, being with family or friends, a traditional meal of turkey and dressing (southern for stuffing), taking afternoon walks hearing the crunch of fallen leaves, these are many of my memories and traditions.
We began our family time celebrating Thanksgiving this past weekend. We continue through this holiday weekend, enjoying the blessing of being together. I’m thankful for all God’s blessings and in recent years I add to my “Thankful List” my newfound friends from blogging. Wishing everyone a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.

A newfound garden shop

I want to share a few snaps with you from a charming little garden shop I discovered a few weeks ago. You are welcomed with a ceramic dressed gardner, surrounded by seasonal flowers and plants. Ivy covered walls invite you inside to a lovely selection of plants and gifts for every season. On my next visit I’m sure I will find an abundance of inspiration for my holiday decorating!

As always, thank you for your visit. I would love for you to let me know you were here and leave a comment. Tell me your Thanksgiving traditions.

It's just four at our home, and I miss my dad more every year esp at holiday tables, so I decided to make it buffet vs sit down this year...and I think I will do that from now on.
    Thankful for you, blogging friend.
    Blessings.

  19. Hi Emily! I hope you are well! We always go for a walk after our Thanksgiving dinner--sometimes in snow parkas and boots, sometimes in short sleeves--in New England it could be summer, winter or fall on Thanksgiving. I do wish we could grow paperwhites in our yard! I have to force them indoors here, but they are worth the effort! I enjoyed our "shopping trip" in the new garden store! Linda
