A GARDEN OF DELIGHTS


The Spring Garden

Mountain laurel

Anytime of the year you will find beautiful plants and flowers in my mother-in-law’s gardens. To say she has a green-thumb is an understatement.  My favorite time of the year to stroll through the gardens are early to late spring. This is when you find lush green and vibrant colors coming to life. So please, come take a walk with me. I don’t think you will be disappointed!

    So many beautiful flowers...and ferns. I love the yellow honeysuckle.

    All of this is in her garden now? WOW! So many of those flowers don't do well in Houston, but I will have them blooming in Maine in a few weeks. Loved strolling with you.

    Oh yes, it was a beautiful walk! I loved all the irises and the camellia! The air must smell heavenly with all the honeysuckle. Gorgeous photos and mosaics!

    So beautiful! The unopened blooms of the mountain laurel remind me so much of those little mint candies one would sometimes find as favours at weddings.

    What a gorgeous garden full of colour and a variety of plants. The red flower is a variety of aquilegia, commonly known as columbine.

    Good Afternoon Emily, Thank you for the invitation to stroll around your mother's garden... took my breath away, it is absolutely stunning. The variety of plants is just so lovely. I love honeysuckle when it releases it's perfume in the evening and the Camelias are just so beautiful.
    The small dainty plant, we know as Aquilegia and they do come in a range of colours.
    Thank you so much, I have really enjoyed my stay, so much so, that I have become a new follower.

    Hi Emily, Such a beautiful garden!! Those iris at the top :) love them! It's POURING this morning in Seattle .. BUT it's supposed to warm up to around 50 degrees and by Friday they are saying 70 degrees so I'm hopeful to get out to do some gardening soon. I'm not sure where these photos are taken but the woods remind me a little of the forests we have here in the pacific northwest.

    Simply heavenly, my friend. Difficult to pick favorites but I would pick a few camelias, wild flowers, and verbenas.
    My mother has such an amazing green thumb too. I always say she could make a twig bloom. Unfortunately, I did not inherit it. :(

    I loved the fern garden. There is something so wonderful about walking in the woods. I also really loved the irises. I never used to be an iris fan until I moved to my new home and in my garden are the most beautiful purple irises. I think it is great when others open their beautiful homes to their families. My mom and dad's home has been a big retreat lately.

    My MIL had a Rhododendron bush for years and we all just loved it. She had a pretty Hibiscus and a Gardenia too, both equally appealing. And Aloe, she had tons of Aloe! I miss her place. :)
