Sharing with you today my photographs of the beautiful city of Dublin and the coastal town of Malahide, a short train ride from Dublin. It was a special trip Jim and I made with my sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Craig. We have friends living in Wales and they met us in Dublin for a wonderful reunion. We sure hope a return trip is in our future.
I am also going to introduce you to a special little guy, and yes he's Irish, well part Irish from this "Bama", and his great grandmother my mom. He is my three year old grandson Connor.

I've been to Ireland many times, Emily. My heritage is part Irish and my sister-in-law was born in County Cork --near Blarney Castle - and I've visited her family with her and my brother. I love Dublin and also Northern Ireland.

ReplyDeleteI saw your comment on Jeanie’s blog and came for a visit. I enjoyed that tour of Ireland a lot. I have been to England many times but never made it to Ireland yet. You grandson is very handsome. All your photographs are beautiful and that last one, the coffee cup with soda bread and jam is quite appetizing.

Although I've been to Scotland and England many times I have never been to Ireland! It's definitely on my list of "to be visited" places. Your photos are beautiful and your grandson is adorable!

ReplyDeleteLoved the picture, we went to Ireland in 2010, travelled all around the north down to dingman back up to Dublin and stayed there for two days then flew to England went down to wales to Caerphilly to meet a distant cousin i met through ancestry.com. It was an amazing trip. 2012 we went back and did the eastern shore down to cork and stayed at a b&b at - just went blank. We were going to do the ring of Kerry, but it was too foggy- so you know what that means- we need to go back. I found my great great grandparents home they first lived in when they got married. Amazing country...

Hi Emily, Your photos are making me yearn for another trip to Ireland. I love it--I could imagine living there and being happy. The people are just wonderful. Dublin is such a great city and the countryside of course is incredibly beautiful too. I feel as if I was back there with your post. And of course your little leprechaun is the sweetest! Your grandson is a gorgeous little boy...He looks like a print model...Ralph Lauren would love to get his hands on that face.....and Ireland is our next trip to Europe...getting tired of Paris....went this year for the holidays...not a great idea to go in the winter...it is not as pretty in the winter...nothing was green.....I want to go to Ireland to shop for woolens and leather boots and all sorts of good things....thanks for the tour of Dublin....Sue @ Rue-Mouffetard
ReplyDeleteEver since I was a little child, I wanted to travel to Ireland, Norway and New Zealand. So far, I managed to go only to Norway. I hope to be able to go to Ireland soon, I live in Germany so it is not that far :) I am of Greek origin, and for some weird reason I have always been drawn to Ireland...it may have something to do with the fact that my favourite band is U2 :) They also say that the Irish and the Greek have the same passion for life and are emotionally very alike.....Katherine, http://styleidoscope.blogspot.de/

ReplyDeleteHi, Emily! We're having our house painted, and I have decided I want a traditional white with black shutters since it's a Colonial-style house. I've been thinking I want a red door, but after looking at these, I'm reconsidering. Maybe a different color...like that vibrant canary yellow!!!! That's hot! Connor is just such a little cutie pie! ReplyDeleteOh, how I love your Irish tour. Ireland is on my bucket list and those colorful buildings make my heart sing. Celtic music is a favorite and between that and the pubs, I think I'd be in my element. Sweet Connor is just adorable -- fabulous photos of him AND Ireland! Belated St. Paddy's day wishes!

ReplyDeleteIn 2010 I went back with a son, daughter and grandson. At age 72, I kissed the Blarney Stone. The first time I was there, I had a broken foot. This last time, I figured I had better kiss that darned thing cause I might not get back again. I did a post about it here:

I just love Connor. Such a sweet Irish lad! You know the grands are the most wonderful thing, you get to just love, love them without all of life's pressures and responsibilities.
You can tell he is greatly loved, awesome smile.
This was a wonderful post. If I get back to Dublin I will check out that restaurant.

I love this post featuring Dublin and all things Irish. I would love to visit there. The pubs with beautiful hanging baskets and the doors. That yellow one pops out! The bridge with the river reminds me of a bridge in Paris. Love the Irish soda bread tray. Makes me hungry.

We ate in a few great places, my husband had ro go to
Dirty Nellies and we were very happy with the food.
Loved all the churches and especially the countryside.
Our first trip was just four days called a Taste of Ireland
because my Mom wanted to visit Ireland before she died.
She lived about 10 years after her trip and always told
us how great a trip it was.
Brings back many fond memories.

The flowers in the boxes are so bright and beautiful! We just returned from a trip to Dublin and it was very nice. There was so much to see and do though, that we didn't make it to the outskirts of town like we'd hoped. Perhaps another time. :)
