Mobile ~ The Eastern Shore

The Eastern Shore ~ Mobile Bay

The Eastern Shore Trail, Spanish Fort, Daphne, Montrose, Fairhope and Point Clear are communities along the shore of Mobile Bay. You will find biking, hiking and walking trails offering wildlife and nature. Trails run through small town America, some waterfront and some historical. I have traveled to these towns many times and enjoy the familiar sights while visiting here.
Jim and I spent a long weekend here recently and spent our time in and around the community of Fairhope. It is a lovely town, a friendly town that says welcome! We enjoyed the wildlife and natural habitat this area offers. And of course I did a little shopping along the way.
Fairhope was established in 1894. From a small community it has grown into a thriving town with shops and restaurants and offers a wide variety of activities. Of course being on the bay deep sea fishing is a given, along with gulf yachting and polo matches. This is a community of parks, family neighborhoods with sidewalks and beautiful oak trees dripping with spanish moss.
With so much to see and do here it's no wonder it is a favorite destination for family vacations.
If you are more interested in a beach getaway just continue south on Highway 98. About thirty-five miles south and a forty-five minute drive you will find yourself at the beautiful Alabama gulf coast, the towns of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. I've spent many vacations there and I highly recommend it.
After your stay along the Eastern Shore no doubt you'll want to cross the bay and visit the historical city of Mobile. Favorite sites to visit there are Bellingrath Gardens and Home where you'll see an explosion of Azaleas and Southern Gardens. Another site not to be missed is a tour of the USS Alabama.
Of course I made a few photographs, so join me as I give you a little tour through the delights of southern Alabama.

  2. How fun! Never been to Alabama but would love to. Love those birdhouses (Riviera) and that mandevilla in the top photo is gorgeous. I have had two of them for the last two summers hanging on my deck. Seems they love the hot weather and I hardly water them. Perfect plants! Happy Pink Saturday.
