A ROSE GARDEN TEA PARTY WITH PETER RABBIT

CANDLELIGHT AND ROSES

 Spring is here with it all of its glorious flowers. Jim and I love roses, so naturally we have them all around our home. We have a red rose topiary, we have old fashion roses, and we have climbing roses. The climbing roses are growing like topiaries to the top of the fence, trained to trailing the length of the fence and fall into beautiful swags.

So while having our morning coffee on the portico we noticed the roses were at their peak. We decide to have a little fun. I wanted to set a tablescape with my Wedgewood Peter Rabbit tea set. So with tablecloth, china, and crystal in hand Jim helped me pull my fantasy tea party together.

I needed a way to hang my sweet little chandelier over my table so Jim went to Lowe's and found a post, for of all things, hanging plants . It worked like a charm. With a few wires, my chandelier was hanging in the roses and over the bistro table, candles ready to lite and camera ready for my photo shoot.
So with imaginations at play, here is the story for my Rose Garden Peter Rabbit Tea Party........

A ROSE GARDEN TEA PARTY

 GARDEN ROSES

Iris slid out of bed. It was Saturday, no school. Mother's garden roses were in full bloom and it was a beautiful April morning

Iris wondered if Martha was in her mother's garden this morning. Martha visited different gardens in the neighborhood each day. Iris looked out of her bedroom window and there was Martha in the verbena! Of course, Martha loved verbena.

There was not a single rabbit in the neighborhood who was not kin to Martha.
Iris knew she must set a trap if she wanted to see Martha this morning. Martha has one weakness; Mother's biscuits. So Iris would set a trap that Martha could not resist -- morning tea; with Mother's biscuits and dandelion tea.
Iris got to work. She got out her Mother's best china and tablecloth. Mother made the biscuits and tea while she set up the table under the big, drooping roses.

 The smell of the fresh biscuits wafted through the garden. Iris knew Martha could not resist. Now all she had to do was wait.

 MOTHER'S FAMOUS BISCUITS

The garden gate creaked. Then the rusty hinges creaked and the gate swung open.

GARDEN GATE

 In a twinkling Martha hopped into the chair opposite Iris.

She looked very beautiful for a very old bunny. But something was different about Martha this morning. Her ears twitched. She had on a new hat! Iris had seen this hat before! It was Mother's! Martha has stolen her garden hat. Martha's eyes twinkled. The hat looked so cunning on Martha's furry head, between those big ears.

They had a glorious tea party, but it ended to soon. Iris sat on mother's cast iron bench to watch Martha eat the last morsel of her biscuit.Suddenly, Martha  jumped on the bench next to Iris. She was still munching the last morsel of mother's biscuit, eating every crumb. Iris knew Martha was saying thank you for the tea and biscuits.

Then Martha was gone. The last time Iris saw her was in Mother's pansies and Johnny jump-ups. She loved to nibble on them. Iris would never forget morning tea with Martha!

What a fun way to spend a spring morning. I think Iris and Martha had a great tea party. It was a way for me to enjoy the roses.........
